Honoring a Legend

The Murray Cup honors Scott Murray’s decades-long dedication to bringing ice hockey to Thailand and his efforts in building a community around the sport. As a journalist and long-time player, Scott “Hockey” Murray documented the rise of Thai hockey and welcomed generations of players—both locals and expats—to the ice. The cup symbolizes his vision that hockey is not just a game, but a diverse and tight-knit community.

The Spirit of the Cup

Every team that hoists the Murray Cup carries forward the spirit of camaraderie that Scott “Hockey” Murray brought to Bangkok. It is a celebration of the unique, “absurd joy” of playing the world’s coldest sport in one of the world’s hottest cities, creating a significant and meaningful hockey scene in Southeast Asia.
